Team LottoNL-Jumbo’s climbers are ready for the summit finish in the Abu Dhabi Tour tomorrow after surviving the first two flat stages of the Abu Dhabi Tour without a scratch. Robert Gesink, Steven Kruijswijk and George Bennett all finished today and yesterday in the same time as the stage winner. Today, Marcel Kittel won the stage and Mark Cavendish stayed in the race lead.
The first stage of the Abu Dhabi Tour ended in a bunch sprint with LottoNL-Jumbo’s Enrico Battaglin placing 11th. Mark Cavendish won the 189-kilometre stage to Madinat Zayed with the classification riders safely tucked in the peloton.
Slovenian star Primoz Roglic extended his contract with Team LottoNL-Jumbo for the 2018 season. Fresh of the Volta ao Algarve win, General Manager Richard Plugge was happy to confirm the deal.

Primoz Roglic won the Volta ao Algarve overall classification today in Portugal. The Slovenian of team LottoNL-Jumbo finished fifth on the final climb, just behind his biggest challenger Michal Kwiatkowski.
Team LottoNL-Jumbo starts the Abu Dhabi Tour next week with leaders Steven Kruijswijk and Robert Gesink. The four-day stage race, February 23 to 26, is the third WorldTour event after the Tour Down Under and the Cadel Evans Road Race.
Martijn Keizer, a day after LottoNL-Jumbo’s win with Victor Campenaerts, attacked and spent most of the Ruta del Sol’s fourth stage free in an escape group. They covered 179.3 kilometres to Seville, caught by the peloton in the final kilometres ahead of a Bryan Coquard sprint victory. Alejandro Valverde remains the race leader with one day to race.
